Before starting the research

If you have decided to entrust your family tree to us, we will need your help at the very beginning of the research process. 

To start the research, we need information about your ancestors going as far back as possible. It helps if you gather documents at home, such as birth, marriage, and death certificates, school records, military books, or if you can obtain information from family members and other witnesses.

For the person being researched, ideally we should know: 

• First name, surname, and maiden name 
• Exact date and place of birth, marriage, or death
• Names of parents, if known
• Religion

In general, the older the information you can collect, the sooner we can begin researching your family tree. If you are unable to find older records yourself, please contact us—we will gladly assist you.
