What do we offer

Slovenské rodokmene provides several options for researching your “family tree.” We can offer:

  • Ancestral chart
  • Paternal line family tree
  • Descendant chart
  • Family tree

These types of research can be combined according to your exact wishes.

Ancestral Chart

Captures all direct ancestors of the person being researched, i.e., 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great-grandparents, 16 great-great-grandparents, and so on. This type of research focuses only on your direct ancestors; their siblings are not included.

This approach gives the best chance to uncover “blue blood” or other notable ancestors.

The ancestral chart along with the paternal line family tree, is among the most requested research types..

Paternal Line Family Tree

For a single family line of your choice (most often the family name you carry), we research your direct ancestors and their siblings. This provides a precise picture of where your ancestors lived and what they did for a living.

This type of research is often less expensive than other types.

The paternal line family tree together with the ancestral chart is one of the most popular genealogical products.

Descendant Chart

Represents a complete list of descendants from a single common ancestor. The oldest known ancestor is chosen, and all of their descendants are researched regardless of gender or legitimacy. This type of research is very demanding and usually takes significantly longer to complete than other types.

Family Tree

Although for a layperson, any of the above products might be called a “family tree,” in fact, a family tree is just one type of research. A family tree records exclusively the bearers of the family surname, meaning sons and their descendants who carry the paternal surname. Daughters are usually included with their spouses, but their descendants are generally not researched further. It also includes illegitimate sons of daughters who retained the paternal surname, as well as adopted children who took the family name.

In the past, a family tree was essential for noble families, as it helped establish property rights.
